One Year Ago!!

Last year at this time we had Ellie's blessing at our home. It was a ton of fun and very special. It's fun to look back at how the little girls looked then. They change so fast!!!Daniel and Step always take a good picture. They also always make it a priority to be around for the important stuff. Thanks guys.
Evie loved playing with this train and she is always able to get everyone else involved.
Cute Adam and Ellie. They have a special bond. Ellie is a doll and keeps us all smiling!!!

New Years Day or Birthday Party!!!

Sunday, January 1st 2012, was in fact New Years Day. But at our house we had some unfinished business from 2011. Daniel and Step were born on December 27th!!! Lucky for them they were healthy and happy and have had a great life!!! Unlucky for them is the fact that by December 27th every year their Mom is worn out and we celebrate their birthday a few days later!!!! They have been very generous in forgiving me and they are always happy!!! This year as in the past 10 years we have had Chicken Broccoli casserole for their dinner!!! It's their favorite. Also this year we had two cakes!!! One vanilla and one chocolate!!! Both were a hit!!!As you can see, when it came time to blow out candles, Evie C was a big help. First with Daniel and the chocolate cake.
Next with Step and the vanilla one. Thanks Evie... And thanks you two for being such great boys and good examples to all of us. We have been so blessed because we know you!!!

Chicken Broccoli Casserole recipe: (how I make it)

6 chicken breasts (boneless-skinless) Pan sauteed in chicken broth and diced.

1 1/2 lbs. broccoli cooked and drained

2 cans cream of chicken soup

1 cup mayonnaise

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1-2 teaspoons curry powder

1 teaspoon salt and pepper

1 1/2 cups grated cheddar cheese

Place Broccoli on the bottom of a 9X13 sprayed pan. Top with cooked chicken breast. Top with grated cheese. Mix the soup, mayonnaise, lemon juice, curry powder, salt and pepper. Pour over the top of cheese. Bake about 45 minutes in 350 degree oven. It should be bubbly all the way through.

Well I thought that the Christmas break would be a great time to take family pictures!!!!! Turns out there is never a great time. But it also turns out that family pictures are very important!! Especially to MOM's. They are a great marker of what your family looks like at a point in time.
I have found that most Men do not really like the whole idea!!!! And we have a lot of men in our family. (A couple of them didn't complain, but the pain was obvious.)

I like this picture of Mark and I. We are basically "empty-nesters" but manage to have a full house most of the time, which we love.
Britt, Bry, Evie, and Ellie are the cutest. They live two minutes away and provide alot of joy around here. I think Ellie spends most of her day with that big smile and Evie can pretend the socks off anyone. Watch out when you start to play with her. You will end up being (Evil queen, Jafar, or Ursula). She is always the princess or Mickey Mouse. Aren't they a beautiful family???
Well, here is the final product!!!! We are very handsome. This was painful however for just about everyone!!! But we all look like we are having fun here!!!! Anyway, here's a 2011 marker for me.

Here are a couple of my favorite instagram photos of the week!!!! Ellie discovered the button on this Winnie the Pooh Christmas ball. It shoots snow around Pooh and Tiger while playing Christmas songs. She would laugh and laugh and then turn it off. Then on again!!!!
I discovered "Princess Dumbo" in her Cinderella dress loading up Grandpa Mark with sticky notes. Those two can really make a mess!!!! Peas in a pod!!! So cute!!!!Have a great day!!!!

COUNTING MY BLESSINGS

What a great year we are having!!!! Here is a glimpse of Ellie's first birthday!!! We had so much fun!!

Girls day out!!! I love any time with the girls!! We love traveling together.
Adam and Muy are a joy to have around and are a nice looking couple too.
Fun times in Deer Valley. We had a couple of Staycations to the Regent and then the Montage!! Of course that always includes a brunch at Stein Erickson Lodge!!! We can't go with out the little ones!!
Cute little Hunsaker family are the highlights where ever they are.

Britt, the girls and I had a lot of fun at the State fair. However the birds are not a favorite with Evie or Britt.
Ad and Muy are the movie gurus. This was just after Paranormal activity and Daniel showed up unexpectidly. It was a nice surprise but a little erie as well.

We had a great trip to San Fransisco with Meg and Thayne. We managed to fit in a Giants game, spend some time with Garth and family. The Bay Bridge is always spectacular. Are they a darling couple or what!!
These are the best boys!!!! Having a snack at Grandma D's.
I'm not sure how many times we have been on Tea Cups this year, but it has been a lot. More to come as well.
The trip to China was fantastic and I am grateful to have been with these four awesome men. They were delightful to travel with.

This scene is almost everyday!!! Grandpa Mark has found the new loves of his life and they feel the same way about him. Life is Good. I am grateful for my family and friends.

Well Ellie B had her first birthday party!!! She was as cute as ever and even crawled a bit.
Old McDonald is one of her favorite songs and books. She can say E-I-E-I-O!!! So cute. Britt and I had a lot of fun making soups and cupcakes and decorating in a farm theme.

Halloween ReCap ---from the last four years!!!!

I love Halloween!!! And we really celebrated this year!!! Britt and I took the girls to Mickey's Halloween party in Disneyland!!! It was a blast!!! There are several of these ghost Mickey's around the park, and you get to Trick or Treat at them. They set up about 5 candy stations at each on. Evie couldn't get enough.
We also went to Gardner Village a couple of times. We try to make it every year!!! We had a lot of fun. Here are a couple of pictures. Britt made a beautiful witch and Evie gets the cutest witch award!!! The great-grandmas were scary witches. I'll post a pic of them later. Ellie couldn't take her eyes off the witches so it's almost impossible to get a picture of her cute face. She was fascinated.

Found this photo while looking for photos for Britt's Birthday!!! I love Halloween and it was so much fun this year when the boys were either three or four years old. I think three almost four. Little Humans or Big Humans it's still mind-boggling. But it sure is fun!!! Glad we had a fun weekend together--- minus all the comings and goings between--school---work---and church functions--- at least we got one dinner in together!!! I love Family Time!!!!

We had a blast in Deer Valley, but the best was making smore's each night with homemade vanilla, cinnamon, peppermint or original marshmallows. My favorite was the vanilla. But we will never find Hot Chocolate as good as they make at the Montage!!!!! WOW!!!!!!

Life and Vacation with Grandchildren couldn't be sweeter!!! Especially with these two!!!
Didn't get much time with Daniel and Step, but I'll take whatever minutes I can get.

Cisero's on Friday night was great and Daniel made it just in time.

Just a note---- Mark spoke in Church today up at the University Stake where he is serving. I did all the normal Sunday stuff--- Attended meetings, made dinner (a good one) for my family, studied the lessons, and enjoyed the yard. But when I got up on Sunday Morning and walked our to the kitchen I encountered-------

this mess!!! I've been looking at it all week and wondering when I was going to get to it!!! I got up Sunday Morning early (5:00 A.M.), that's actually when I usually wake up. Well I would say we are not old!! But we are older than the Hawaiian picture (sun in the eyes) that was taken in the summer of 1982. The (older of us) other picture was taken in May of 2011. I think we did pretty well. But the best picture is of the whole family. Taken this summer up at Park City resort. We spent 4 days at the St. Regis in Deer Valley. It was Heavenly!!!

Fun Week!!!

Sunday we were up in Midway, finishing up our fun time at Swiss Days. The twins came up for dinner and we had a great time. Swiss Days will be a different blog. We spent most of the day with Meg and Thayne. It was relaxing and fun.

We had a hot dog bar at the BBQ. Lot's of salads. Highly successful!!!
We had a fun BBQ at our home on Monday night we invited both our families and it turned out great. My pictures are stolen from Megs blog since I didn't take any.
Tuesday, we put together an outing to Mary Poppins at the last minute. We ate at Cafe Molise, and then walked over to the Capital theater. We loved the production in New York and it was a lot of fun here as well. The three of us could have fun anytime anywhere however.

Thursday night we had a shower for Randi Olsen. It was a lot of fun and the girls were adorable.

Friday Britt and I went to the Utah State Fair. We had a blast and stayed for 4 hours. The girls loved the animals, and riding the Merry-go-round. We were the only ones there so the guy let it run and run and run!!!

To top the week off, Adam ran in the Greek Festival 5k. He won of course with the time of 16.20. his goal was to come in under 17 minutes. He was 2 minutes ahead of the next guy. Any way it was a beautiful morning and Jin and I had a lot of fun waiting the full 16 minutes for him to finish.

Fun in Kaohsiung

Here are the cute boys I was able to travel with to Taiwan and then on to China. Here they are in the Tokyo airport trying to stay awake for one more leg of our journey. We began traveling on Sunday May 1st at 9:00 a.m. and arrived in Taiwan and 7:00 p.m. on Monday night due to the time change. We loved it and had alot of fun.
Our first stop in Taipei was the LDS Temple. It was beautiful and meticulously maintained. We were able to meet the Temple President and one of the couples that served with Daniel and is now on another mission. It was a nice visit.
Another highlight in Taipei is the Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial park. It was monstrous and beautiful.
Train ride from Taipei to Kaohsiung. Fast. Fast. Fast.
We went to a great BBQ place our first night in Kaohsiung. This is Daniels friend Torren.
One of the main things to see in Kaohsiung is Budda Land. It is incredible and I am only showing you a very small part of what we saw. Every room in Budda Land came alive when you walked into it. But no picture taking was allowed in most of it. All the rooms were as bright in color as you see here.
This display in Budda Land represents the rebirth after enlightenment.
This was a really amazing display in Budda Land. The entire land was incredible. They gave us blessings to take home and wished us peace and happiness.
This is one of the Chapels where Daniel would meet with people to teach them the Gospel. It is beautifully maintained. We walked much of the city on this day.
This is David, a friend of Daniel's he took us to a wonderful lunch and then to his shop and home. He is a major distributor for NONI JUICE. He was sweet and Daniel was happy to meet up with him. In the background is his Mother's dress shop. Most people live above their businesses.
This is a temple at the Lotus Ponds. Very deceiving. It goes up and up and back and back and becomes more opulent as you go.
Daniel in front of the light house we walked up to. It was a ferry ride across the bay and a beautiful setting.
Our last meal in Kaohsiung with three of Daniel's friends. We had so much fun. You sit down in a pit and have a hot pot which includes a lot of veggies, clumps of duck blood and a lot of stuff you may not want to eat because the duck blood is in there. You grill your meat yourself right in front of you. We loved this city and were grateful to be able to see where Daniel served his mission. We loved every minute meeting people who are important to Daniel. It was an incredible experience. One I will never forget. The people were very proper and polite.

We were lucky enough to go to China this year. We started out in Taiwan and Kaohsiung specifically. I will blog about that later. We had a great visit with Daniel's friends there.

HERE'S FOR DANIEL

Okay Daniel!!! Thanks for pushing me a little to blog. It's been since September so here a few of my pictures!!! Alot happens in a few months. This was a fun day!! Evie loved burying me in the leaves and then jumping on me. She is a blast!!!

I just think this is a darling picture of Ellie. Sunny day at the zoo---on the train. Evie was mad when we got off.
Evie loves Disney so much that she will ride with anyone!!! Plus she loves these two (Meg and TT)!!!
Cute Adam holds Ellie a lot!! She loves the way he carries her and he has a special connection with her already!!! I always like having him around with the girls because they love playing with him.
I have quickly gone to fourth place or probably farther on Mark's list of priorities!!! Really!!! Here he is with his two favorites, and Britt is their Mom so she's ahead of me too. I will say that he gets #1 Grandpa award.
Daniel and Step are the best!!! This was Ellie's blessing day. Mark and I love going to dinner about once a week with these guys. They are hard at work at BYU!!! I need more pictures of these two.
I love these towels. Britt traced, cut, and sewed these little handprints on cute spring towels for me. I'll have momentos of Evie and Ellie for a long time. They grow too fast!!! Britt is the cutest Mom.

Both my Maternal Grandparents birthdays are in March, so I spent a day with my Mom and sister, Julie. We went through the Carl Bloch exhibit at BYU. It was fabulous!! I also attended it with Mark. There are beautiful paintings of Christ which usually reside in Chapels around Europe. BYU does an amazing job with their museum. Then we went to lunch at Los Hermanos on the way to the cemetary. My Grandmother's name is Aileen Noble Mills and my Grandfather's is Harold Lucas Mills.

It was a great day!!

Zoo days are a ton of fun!!! It was a little cold and this was April!!! We just have to see the Elephant and Baby Zuri, ride the train, and play on the slide. Evie likes to check out the baby Orangutan named Eve.

Finally one of the best things we do is go to Disneyland!!! A Lot!!! Many people think this is crazy, but we have so much fun there together, and just spend a lot of time talking and just being together. This is Meg, a penguin and Daniel!!! That ones for you Bud!!

California and Dreamin!!!

I always forget that the pictures load backwards from how you want them. So this is my dreamin part!!! I would love to make these dolls I think they are adorable. Also I had the most points this week in Fantasy Football. So I'm dreamin of winning the whole thing!!

This was from our Seattle trip in August!!! We had beautiful weather and a ton of fun walking!!!

We had a blast in Disneyland again. Evie was so cute and loved all the little kid rides and was afraid of all the live charactors. Pretty normal I would say!!!We had a blast in Magic Morning!!! Rode a ton of rides!!! Dumbo four times with Evie!! World of Color was amazing!!! Great food everywhere. It was fun to see Captain EO which they brought back for good memories!! It was weird though!!! Anyway, I have loved our trips this year and we are now awaiting the arrival of Hunsaker girl # 2.

MEXICO JUNE 2010

Going to Mexico is a lot of fun for us and usually a big adventure. This time was no different. Our flight was delayed a little and then we had the pleasure of trying to rent the van. We arrived at the hotel late and then found the great Restaurant Bryan suggested: Cambalache--- YUM. It is an Argentine steak house so we had steak. It was fabulous. Bruno (Our driver Martin's son) joined us halfway through. It was delicious and a lot of fun!!!

We arrived at the dif in Cholula and were disappointed to see the wheelchairs!!! They were all the same and wrong. We get better wheelchairs for our friends and specially made ones for the children. These will be traded out next week!!!! They served us three types of tamales and Thayne was brave enough to eat the hot one. Step likes the one with Mole.
We got delicious Ice cream down the hill from the pyramid in Cholula!!! Mine was pine nut!!! It was awesome.
Up in Xalitzintla our friend Elizabeth (her son Leno was our first student) made us some delicious soy enchiladas verdes. We really enjoyed them. She of course made the tortillas as well. You just can't get tortillas that taste like that here. She is a sweetheart and all of 4 feet and a few inches tall.

This is Step and Momo one of his favorite people. Step baptized Momo and was happy to see him.Step will be mailing the jersey he forgot to him soon. What a happy guy!!
This is the family of Rafa and Christy. We loved visiting with them and were impressed with their enthusiasm. We hope to make it back in November to see their new little baby. It's a boy!!!
The pyramid in the back ground is the Pyramid of the Moon at Teotihuacan. Thayne is on top of the Pyramid of the Sun there. We had quite and adventure getting there as we missed the turn off and came in the back way. Luckily!!!

Well----this was the last lunch we had with Amy!!! She chose Corner Bakery and set it all up. Two weeks later she passed away. I believe this is the last picture we have of her. Thank you to the women that offered to take it of all of us together. We had so much fun that day. (March 25, 2010). Amy kept saying: "This is so much fun! This is my kind of place!" Amy loved being a great Aunt to Evie. She was the best Aunt to my kids. I will love her and miss her always. What a sweet sister!!

I couldn't ask for a better family!!!! I love each and everyone of them. It is just tooooo much!!!
Grandpa Mark!!!!!! Need I say more??? Yesterday, Britt and I tried to eat lunch with Evie at Dodo---- anyway, Evie thought she saw Grandpa at a table across the restaurant and kept yelling PAPA!!!!! It was so loud and funny. We walked her past the table to show her it wasn't him, but a few minutes later she began again!!! We had to leave we had lunch in 7 minutes!!!

We went to visit PAPA after that!!!

Is there a cuter family??? I don't think so!!! We are all so excited to be traveling together soon!!! Britt and Bry are doing great and we are lucky they live so close by!!!
Adam and Muy Muy are so awesome!! I love having them around!!! They are busy and lots of fun!! We get to have dinner with them alot and I love how they always clean everything up!!! Also they are both happy and lots of fun!!!
Way to go Thayne!!! He adds a great dimension to the family. He must be an outstanding shot, because he was the first one to get a Turkey and when they went deer hunting he got the first deer!!! This Turkey is beautiful and I really am curious to see what happens to it from here.

I love this picture of Daniel, it was taken a couple days after arriving home from his mission. His friend made him a facebook page with it. Daniel doesn't love facebook but puts up with his friends helping him maintain it. Daniel is a great student and smart!! We love learning Mandarin from him and love it when he writes, speaks, and explains it.
Step is such a joy and is always interested in everyone. Here he is with Thayne last Saturday after the Turkey hunt. Step has been really ill with Mono and still manages to smile a ton. He is a happy fun person.

This was a good day. Everyone sort of dropped in and we were able to have dinner together!!! Just missing Thayne (he works until 8p.m.). But we had a great visit so I forced a picture!!! Thanks everyone!
Just a taste of our added room (the man cave), but I love these book cases!!!! And the ladder arrived last week so now I can fill the upper shelves. I love this room and will do a blog about the whole thing. We are just waiting on one more repair!!

Hello Little One!!!! We welcomed little Evie into our lives on March 8th, 2009!!! It has been such a special year with her. She lights up all our lives and we can't wait to see what the future brings. We are so grateful that she is here and doing great. We love you Evie!!!

We had so much fun at the end of January in Disneyland. All 11 of us were there. (nothing better). We lucked out on the weather and the crowds. High 60's and Low crowds. Britt, Evie and I took off a day early and had a ton of fun. I rode Dumbo more in two days than I have the entire rest of my life!!! What a blast!!! She also loved the Tea-Cups and screamed on the Carousel. We had good food together at Story-Tellers Cafe in Grand Californian and Naples Ristorante e Pizzaria in Downtown Disney.

It couldn't have been better. Midway Mania was a blast(new last year). Daniel was just short of 1,000,000 points in Buzz and Tower of Terror was in fine form. Of course we ate plenty of Pickles and Chocolate. It was a blast!!!

We had a fabulous Sunday with Daniel and Stephen speaking in Sacrament Meeting together. They were darling and each talk really accentuated their personalities. Meg took this family picture after the open house and we were all exhausted but pulled off the smiles. It was a gooooood day!!!

Daniel returned on December 22nd, and Step returned January 11th!!! Yeahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!

It was amazing watch them as they saw each other. It was great and very tender. They've grown a little in statue and a ton in spirit!!!! I love it!!!

Evie is getting more fun than ever. She posed with her new pumpkin for a minute without trying to eat it.We had a great time in Torrey a couple of weeks ago. The weather was awesome and we were able to relax for a couple of days.

Last weekend we were up in Midway and the colors were spectacular!!!!! SPECTACULAR!!!

Meg and Thayne were married on Tuesday, August 11th, 2009. We had the reception in our backyard and the evening was perfect!!! We could not have asked for better weather that day, and everyone had a wonderful time. People stayed around for so long and we all had so much fun! It was a "Perfect Day".Britt and Bry at the dinner the night before!!! It was so much fun and the food was great at Asian Star!!!
The "coming out of the Temple" shot!!! The sealing was sweet with Thayne's Grandfather performing the Ordinance. They were happy to finally be married!!!
Adam and Muy were so cute and a lot of help at the reception!!! We are looking forward to more from them. Soooon I hope!!!

The evening ended with a short dance by Meg and Thayne. They didn't really want to but did for the rest of us. The night could not have been more perfect!!!!

San Diego Fun Times

We haven't been to Sea World forever. It was a lot of fun. I could have stayed for hours. I love watching the beautiful animals do their thing. (I mean the whales and dolphins)
We received word that two very needy families received their wheelchairs while we were gone. This news really made Mark and I happy. We hope to go visit them in the fall.
Evie was full of smiles for most of the trip. She is so much fun because she seems to love everyone.
I love this picture of Mark and Meg, probably because I have one just like it from about 10 years ago in the same spot. We love walking around Seaport Village at night and just hanging out together.

This is my favorite picture of Daniel, oh it's the only one received in the last 6 months, but anyway, he looks great!!! I miss Daniel and Stephen a lot and wish it was time for them to come home, but I know they are doing a great job!!!
I loved this window that Meg and I saw in New York. It is done in one of her wedding reception colors and we would love to recreate it at the reception. It's adorable.
This is a quilt that my friend Robyn made for her granddaughter, Poppy. It is really beautiful, I love the way it looks. Quilting is one of my favorite things and I wish I had more time for it.
Going to New York with my girls is definitely one of my favorite things. Meg and I went this time with no Britt for obvious reasons. Times square has changed. This pic was taken on some steps that Coke must have put up in front of the coke sign. They are bright red, and look out over times square. I don't know how many miles we walked and how much shopping we did, but boy was it fun!!!

Of course this is my most favorite thing right now. Evie is so cute and she smiles a ton. I really cannot get enough of her.

Britt and I took Evie to Thanksgiving Point last Wednesday to see the Tulips. She slept through the whole thing but Britt and I had a blast!!!

Meg and Thayne came with us to Mexico.

They were engaged on April 17th and are getting Married August 11th. It will be lots of fun. The reception will be in the back yard.
Adam and Muy Muy also came to Mexico with us. They had a blast shopping in Cholula.
Mark and I spent a week in Paris. It was a blast!! We took a day trip to the Loire Valley and visited three Chateaus there. This is le Chateau des Dames known as Chenonceau. It had two beautiful gardens planted by rivals, the wife and the mistress. We visited all our favorite places. Many museums, and the Champs, the Tower and we ate great food. Our Hotel was a block off of Place Vendome. Paris (the city of lights) was really beautiful. We will return.

We also visited Mexico City last weekend. We went to visit Benemerito and watch their final Ballet Folklorico of the year. It is a beautiful Dance program they perform all over the country. We have about 85 scholarship students attending this year and many of them performed.

This is currently my favorite picture of Evie C. She is my new granddaughter. The love of my life and many others lives. We were so excited to have her join our family on March 8th. I was especially anxious to see her face. I love holding her and could look at her sweet little face for hours. Brittany and Bryan are awesome parents and are so good to her and each other.

Being a grandma is the BEST!!!!! Everyone is right. There is nothing like it. I love it!

Technology

This morning I was up early (my usual) sending emails and "surfing", when I responded to an email Meg sent me last night. She of course was on up in her room, I was in my back room office, we began emailing back and forth. I just thought it was funny because we are in the same house, talking to each other not face to face. But what really got my funny bone was the fact that we could have done this in several ways. We have nine land line phones in this home, so we could have talked to each other in different rooms on those. We have four Cell phones which we could have talked, texted, or emailed from. We could have skyped on one of our four desk top computers, or from our five laptop computers. I ended up walking up the stairs to her room and sitting on her bed for a minute. It was nice.

Anyway, we are over run with Technology in this house. We have six televisions mounted on walls, three others which are usable, and three just sitting unplugged. We have remote controls for fireplaces, window coverings, the sesame, and all the televisions, not to mention the garage. These are things unknown to me as a teenager. Anyway, I was thinking how nice these things make life but also how frustrating. They are never where they are suppose to be!!!!!

Also, my list of things to do today include, emails, posting stuff on the family site, blogging, I do actually get to make some phone calls, but I will probably just leave messages on answering machines. Anyway, I think am going to go and write to Daniel and Stephen with pen and paper. That will be nice too.

It's official, I don't even know the term for it. My mind is in a state of confusion. I am having trouble thinking straight, being organized or functioning at my normal level. We have been remodeling for 2 months. I have nowhere to go in my home for some privacy, there is not one place that is in it's normal state. Our place in Midway is overrun by snow. I feel really out of sorts. I love what we are doing to the house, and it will be great when we are finished, but I feel really unorganized.

The other night we tried to go out to dinner with everyone, It snowed so much that Bryan couldn't make it in, Meg took an hour to get to the place (one block from our home) and then Adam ordered this lovely shrimp dish. We didn't realize we would get the whole thing. It was good for a laugh.

I am trying to cook more at home. The kitchen is pretty much back together as is the family room. So I can move around there a little. Last night I made my version of Barbacoa soup. It turned out really well. I even got an A+ from Mark, which means a lot. Anyway, I am hoping to have my home and mind back very soon.

Where's 2008

Honestly, where did December go? For that matter the entire year. Last January 8th I kissed good-bye to Meg at the Airport and on the 9th good-bye to Daniel and Step. Wow, I then proceeded to go to Europe 3 times ( London, Paris, Germany, Prague), California 4 times (San Diego, Torrey Pines, Disneyland twice), Alaska(on a cruise), Seattle(and Victoria), Mexico (Mexico City, Pachuca, Xalitzintla, Nealtican), and probably somewhere I am forgetting. Oh, Midway!!!!

I had so much fun with everyone. We took a lot of great pictures and a million fun memories were created.

Also, we are still in the middle of our remodel. Painting the house is a much bigger project than we anticipated. We keep adding more. Probably the hardest part is parting with furniture that we purchased in the past and really do like. Most of it doesn't "fit" in this home. We are really happy with what we have done so far. The house feels warmer and more inviting. More like us.

Adam graduated from the "U" in May. That's huge, for anyone, I am really proud of him. He is working for Sentry West. What an accomplishment. Meg is in the business program at the "U" and has one more year. Her Semester abroad put her back a semester.

Mark was put in the High Counsel at the University Stake of Married Students. It has been a fun calling. He speaks everyother month and we have been teaching the Marriage class together. Those kids are great!!!!

I love my calling in the Young Women.

Well, I was happy when the scaffolding came down on Christmas Eve. We had our Christmas tree outside this year. It was pretty funny!!!

I just found a blog by a Sister Missionary in Daniels mission. She posted a darling picture taken on Sunday. It was really fun to see Daniel in Pres. Li's (a recently released Stake President) home and with his companion. We are anxious to hear from Daniel today. He is always happy and optimistic. We love hearing from him and Step each week.

Germany and Prague

Well, here I am again. We had a wonderful time in Europe! We took Grandma Bets and Grandma D. They were great travelers and a lot of fun to have on the trip. Besides Mark and me, we were with Britt and Bry, Adam, and Meg. Everyone brought a special kind of fun to the trip. Britt spent months organizing, making reservations, and studying what to do. We had a pre-trip family night to go over the itinerary, and what to pack. (I should have listened better)We traveled by Plane, Bus, Train, and on Foot. We went to Berlin first! There we hopped on a City Tour after checking in to Hotel Berlin Berlin (in a great location!), we saw some great sights on that tour. It was a hop on hop off type thing so we spent a lot of the day in some neat places. We were able to see where the wall had been and parts still up. We drove between East and West Berlin, it was really interesting. Our first hop off was at Checkpoint Charlie. I loved that, especially the museum. It shows many events and several escape methods that happened at the wall. It was interesting to see the lengths people will go to get their freedom. Also how thin people were, it was crazy some of the places they fit. (like a suitcase, and not the size of ours)

We also got off at the Brandenburger Tor and Pariser Platz, it is probably the most famous sight in Germany and is a gathering place for many important events. Around the corner is the new Memorial "Memorial to the Killed Jews of Europe". It was truely amazing, as well as emotional to see the field of grey steles symbolizing the murdered Jews.

We drove down the Unter den Linden and later walked through it. It is a beautiful street lined with trees and many important historic buildings. We drove by Potsdamer Platz and later spent a little time there. We were staying at Hotel Berlin Berlin which was in the heart of a great district called Kurfurstendamm, there was a cool looking burned and bombed out church, and a great shopping area. The KaDaWe store was the scene of our first meal there. Mark and Dolores were smart and got some great German food there. Well there is a lot more and I will blog it later.

Terrific Traveling Times

Well, more traveling has taken place since my last blog with Britt. Mark and I went to San Diego and stayed at Torrey Pines Lodge on the Golf Course. It was a blast. (Funny side note: this trip was paid for by Lehman Brothers, our host had to leave because the announcement of their failure came while we were in San Diego.) Mark and I were able to take many long walks together through Torrey Pines Park and we drove around a lot. We went to old town where we found out that our favorite restaurant is under renovation, but were we still able to share some great Mexican food. The Lodge is incredible and we loved being there. The Grand Californian in Disneyland is patterned after the Lodge so Mark was especially in Heaven. Anyway, it was a fun and fabulous get-away for us. Mark serves on the Board of Utah Housing Authority which is the reason for the trip!

Then we were off to Mexico to check on our students at Bene and a few of their families. We had fun with Adam and we were able to travel to Pachuca where he served for about 7 months. We met some families there that were special to him. We also visited with Carlos and Silvia Zepeda. Carlos was the Director at Benemerito when we first began the scholarship program.

We enjoyed time with Alma and Martin Diaz. Martin is our driver. They have been helpful getting us around and to our locations. We feel we have many friends in Mexico. We were also able to drop a package to the Mission Office for Step. From the picture he sent, it looks like he really enjoyed it.

Mark and I had a lot of fun this week in San Diego. We stayed at "The Lodge at Torrey Pines". It was really beautiful. We went on a lot of fun walks, ate a ton of great food and Mark golfed while I went to the Spa. It was very relaxing. We also took a couple of scenic drives up and down the coast. What a great place to live. I think our favorite thing to do was walk around the Torrey Pines State Reserve. There were several neat trails and a lot of greenery. We loved learning about the Torrey Pines themselves and took some great pictures. We had breakfast on the deck and had fun watching football. We loooooove San Diego!!!!!!!!

I can't believe it's been so long since I've been on the blog. Britt and I just finished a great trip to Seattle and Victoria BC. It was fun, but cold. We did a lot of walking and we went to Pike's Fish Market a few times. The highlight was the little French Bakery with Chocolate Almond Croissants. We split two of them and had to restrain ourselves the third day. We spent one day driving to UW and exploring University Village. We found Moleskin Planners which we had been on a mission to find. Then we drove out to the Williams where we were treated to the best dinner of Thai Wraps, grilled Salmon, Chicken, asparagus and a mango bowl for dessert. Fun Fun.
We flew, drove, monorailed, clippered, and flew in a float plane. Butchart Gardens in Victoria was a blast eventhough Britt wasn't too excited in the beginning. It was really pretty. We had High Tea at the Empress Hotel and were a little sticker shocked at the cost. But it was a lot of fun. We sat at a little table for two by the front windows and ate Cucumber Sandwiches, and a lot of cute pasteries. We had caffiene free Berry Berry Tea and laughed while I continuously dropped sugar cubes on the table. (Just couldn't hold on with the baby tonges). It was a fun trip!!! I loved it Britt.

Wow---Home from the Alaskan Cruise! It was amazing. There really is no way to describe the beauty you see there. Between the glaciers, the wildlife, the landscapes, and open ocean. I don't think I have seen so many neat things since the last Europe trip. I will put up a couple of my favorites. This first photo is of the edge of the Juneau ice field. I took this from the floatplane we were on. These ice fields go for miles and miles. The color is fantastic.!!!!!!!! We had two formal nights on the cruise, I was extremely seasick for the first one. We also dressed up on the last night. It was a lot of fun. The food was fantastic, and the company the best. From left to right--Mom, Me, Ruth, Amy, Dolores, Joan. Don't we look great!

Well, It's Saturday July 26th. I am on board the Amsterdam or A-dam as they call it. I will definitely get Ad a mug here.... We are traveling at a pretty good rate. The food is awesome, I have already had Salmon twice. Yesterday when we arrived we were greeted by Mark, Ruth, Peter, and Tim. They took us to a great place called McCormicks and Schmicks for lunch. I ate steamed clams, fish chowder and a beet salad. We also walked around Pikes Market for a while. It was a lot of fun. We arrived on the boat. Had a lifeboat drill which was Mandatory. Joan and Amy missed it and we have had a lot of fun with that. They had to make it up this morning.

I have had some great walks around the ship and it is windy and cool. I really enjoyed it. Hopefully I can upload a couple of pictures.

Family Stuff

We have had some fun things happen with the families this summer. BethAnn Broadhead and Chandler Turley were married on June 13th, it was a nice wedding. Their sealing was at the Salt Lake Temple and the reception was at Heritage Gardens. Meg took a lot of photos for them and some great ones of the family. It was a nice day!

We also had a ton of fun on the 4th of July. We spent a few days up at Midway, Utah. Ou

r place is in a community called Valais. Our address is 33 West Village Circle. It is lots of fun up there.

Anyway, we watched the fireworks which were shot off Memorial Hill. They were

great. We ate at Snake Creek Grill on Saturday night. Oh course eating the yummy Oreo, Ganache, Banana Cream pie. Yum!!!!

The Ellingson Family Reunion was this month. The activities were golf, swimming, farmer's market, quilting, BBQ, and then a great Talent show on Sunday!! Mom made Banana Cream pie which was delicious, especially the next day when she made me my own personal one with real crust! Thanks Mom!!!

Summer Quilting

This summer I finally made the wall quilt I wanted for the house. Oops, it's too little, oh well, I will have to make another one. It is a great pattern from one of my favorite companies called Maple Island Quilts. I found these patterns at the City Quilter in New York. I visit that shop every time we go to New York. It is so much fun. This particular pattern is called "Piqued". I have made a couple of other quilts by this company. Very nice!!!

Another fun quilting experience for me was going to the Shop Hop with my Quilt Group friends. We we

nt out to Pine Needles at Gardner Village, and then to Quilts Etc. and Piper's. It was so much fun. We ended up at the Dodo for lunch, so pretty much a perfect day for me.

My friend group got together and tied two quilts for the humanitarian center. They are darling and I hope will provide comfort and warmth for someone who needs it. We had a fun time tying the quilts and then one of my favorite things is turning the edges. The finished quilts are adorable and it was a fun activity to do with my friends.

Hi there! Wow it's been a while. I really didn't realize how long it's been. Anyway, Britt keeps asking when I will update. It's funny because I always feel like not a lot is happening, but a lot is.

First of all, Mark and I took a little "get-a-way" trip to San Diego in June. It was tons of fun. We visited the Reeses new place and then spent a couple of hours at Torrey Pines Golf Course. Of course this was the home of the 2008 U.S. Open. One of the most amazing tournaments ever!!!!! We ended up with clothing for everyone in the family, and we also thought about the twins a lot since the last time we were there the boys golfed that course. Anyway, San Diego is a lot of fun! Mark and I had a blast, we saw a Padres game and went to our favorite restaurants. Sammy's and Roy's, just to name a couple. We had fun morning walks and shared breakfast at the Edgewater Grill on the harbor. It was a great couple of days.

We have had a great week with lots of great weather. The yard is looking so nice and the sun and warm weather are welcome. The creek is slowly getting higher and higher. One little mishap last night. We had a microburst and a tree in the back fell down. Of course it was in an area that I had been working in a lot yesterday. Oh well. Everything will be dug up and moved. It was a beautiful tree too.

Well, what a fun week. The fun for me is watching the kids have fun. Meg Lauren and Jessica made T-shirts for the American Idol final week next week. David Archuletta is suppose to win. Also we are trying to get the yard in shape. The weather has been great the last couple of days! We will be doing a lot of yard work today. Adam and Meg have been on a couple of bike rides. The Utah Jazz lost in game six of this series to end their chances at a championship. But we have had a ton of fun and parties watching them. Pictures from this week will be posted shortly.

One of the best finds this week was the Miso salad at CPK. Meg and are are going to try to copy it for Sunday dinner tomorrow. It was delish!!!!!

Fluster Bluster

For your information a bear's bluster is the way it communicates. So since I am Cher Bear, and have been since I can remember, I chose this way to communicate with all of you.

I was introduced to blogging a couple of years ago, but really became interested when Meg went to London for a semester. I decided to start my blog before the family grew and spread much farther around. Of course there may be some other special way to keep track in a few years, but hey, I need to get on the high tech track now!

Hopefully, it will all work out! So here I go!
